Signing and screaming

The wheels are turning in that tiny brain. We are seeing several new developments just in the last few days. The most exciting one is that Simon seems to be trying to use the sign language I've been showing him. I've just been using a few signs for him at mealtime, for 'milk' 'more' and 'all done'. In this video he's using his left hand to do a version of the sign for milk, which is supposed to look like milking a cow. At the moment he's using it as a catch-all to mean 'milk' 'food' and 'i'm tired of lying on my tummy, please pick me up'. We're still figuring it out, but in the video i'm feeding him little bits of clementines with my fingers and he's asking for more. We're also laughing at him because he's pausing between signs to hold his breath and poop.

He's also doing a lot of crawling, getting better traction on the new larger softer rug we bought for him last week. He only goes backwards right now. Also, tonight he was standing holding onto our hands and he took several steps toward things that he wanted.

The only new development that we are not enjoying so much is that he is screaming a lot. Sometimes to get our attention, sometimes because he's frustrated, sometimes it seems just to hear himself scream. He's also not sleeping very well, but that's nothing new, just a little more vivid the last few days.

  1. He's getting to be quite the little sports fan! And how is he so big already? I must get over there for a visit!
