Before Simon was born, I had heard from other moms of babies with repaired clefts that after the surgery, they actually missed the cleft. I found that hard to believe, but as soon as he was born I knew it would be true. We love his beautiful wide smiles, and we will miss them. We will fall in love with his new smiles too, of course, but we wanted to remember him how he is right now.
